Alaïa Bay
Switzerland's alpine wave pool. A Wavegarden Cove in the heart of the Alps with a full menu of ten waves — from first-ever whitewater to overhead barrels.
What you can expect at Alaïa Bay
Alaïa Bay is Switzerland's dedicated surf destination — a Wavegarden Cove lagoon in Sion, tucked into the Rhône Valley with the snow-capped Alps rising on every side. It's a venue built 100% around surfing, and one of the most spectacular settings on earth to ride a man-made wave.
The pool runs a full menu of ten wave settings off a single reef — from the ankle-high Rookie whitewater right up through Cruiser, Intermediate and Advanced greens, Advanced/Expert/Mega Turn hollow walls and finally the Expert and Mega Barrels: proper shortboard tubes and slabs with helmets mandatory. Whatever your level, there's a wave dialled in for you.
We pair surf days at the Cove with everything the Valais does best — alpine hikes and lake swims between sessions, dinner at the on-site TwinFin restaurant, and a stay at a beautiful hotel just minutes from the wave. This is a one-departure group trip hosted by Ben Gravy, and the most scenic European wave-pool surf mission you can join.
